“1700 South” was a complex café renovation project at Sarasota Memorial Hospital designed to promote a sought-out
dining experience and serve as an oasis from the clinical environment.

Slide #1 - Designed within a constrained space of existing structural
and mechanical conditions, strategic lighting design and placement was essential to capture the “café” feel of the space.
The lighting was value engineered in a way that controlled costs within a limited budget by using a combination of easily
maintainable standard lamp fixtures and natural light.

Slide #2 - Complete flexibility was achieved by using low-cost
energy saving wall box dimmers allowing conservation during daylight hours utilizing sunlight and creating a more intimate
and relaxing environment in the evening.

Slide #3 - Flexible amber LED lighting, utilized for its long
lamp life and cost-effectiveness, was ingeniously concealed within a low profile crown molding cove. This light source exceeded
the Owner’s expectations for its effectiveness and its consumption of only 1.8 watts per foot at a projected life of 100,000
hours.

Slide #4 - Precise beam distributions of 15, 35 and 60 degrees
were incorporated with the use of 50 watt MR16 lamps in tilt down recessed fixtures to cast warm focused light upon the signage
without creating wasted overspill glare in the eyes of the patrons.

Slide #5 - Additionally, a 50-watt MR16 wave gobo projector
was utilized to create a focal point on the main cafe sign to draw the patrons’ attention into the space where incandescent
lighting makes the food look more appealing creating a positive and memorable experience and reinforcing the design concept.
